Default IR Photography

I have just brought an infrared filter for my Nikon d40 and was going to try and attempt to produce some of the amazing photos like those that were posted here recently. Upon reading about IR photography, I'm slightly confused whether i will need to convert my D40 body as well as using a filter? Can anybody shine a light on this please?

I answered this in your other thread. Sometimes just waiting works better than spinning off multiple threads on the same subject.
