Hi, first day on the Forum and hope this is the right place for this type of problem.
Have been using my Fujifilm S5000 for several years and have been perfectly happy with features, images, etc. Now getting some type of 'breakup' and odd color effects when I first turn it on to take a photo as you can see from the attached frames. I have tried new batteries, formatting the chip and the only thing that clears it up is to turn the camera on and off several times then it clears up and everything works fine till next time. Would appreciate any assistance you folks can provide. Thanks, Bill william_gerald@hotmail.com Last edited by Just Plain Bill; 08-27-2009 at 05:47 PM. Reason: Attached sample frames to posting, but not showing, can be found in my profile>album . . . sorry about that. |

Moved to technique. I'm not sure what the problem with the image linking is, but hopefully someone can help out.

I'm afraid that your sensor is toast. This is an occasional problem for digicam CCD sensors made back in those days (2002-2005). Sony made a bunch of bad sensors that ended up in quite a number of different digicam and camcorder models, and most manufacturers set up a free exchange/repair program. Some of those programs have expired.
Fujifilm claims that they make their own sensors but still set up a similar free program for a few of their models, but not yours. Here's the information on that (not that it does you much good): http://www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/1128702538.html On the other hand, according to a poster at http://www.fixya.com/support/t636343...l_lines_colors they were able to get Fuji to fix a camera not on that list, last year. (The link they give is for the F700, so you'll probably need to find something appropriate to your S5000.) More here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t270969..._blurry_images and here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t228154...rizontal_lines If you want to see the full extent of the Sony sensor mess, check this out: http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html Unless you can get Fuji to fix it for you, it's time for a new camera.
