Default White Balance

Can someone give me some guidelines to follow on white balance when shooting night photography. Where should my K be set?

Richard

My personal preference is to shoot in "incandescent" white balance (I think that's in the 2800 K range). This gives the night sky a pleasantly bluish tint, which is what we think we see (but isn't really there).

You need Blue,(Shoot before sky turns black-30-45 minutes after sunset- for best night shots) so Tungsten/3400Kelvin, or if you want a purple sky use Fluorescent/ 4400 Kelvin--regards, Ken

I never worry about it, shoot in raw and just adjust it later to your liking.
