Default What settings are best?

I took some pics last weekend at my friends netball final which she unfortunatly lost which means we have to play each other to get into the grand final. It was a reasonable wet day (although she managed to get the drier game unlike soaked me) it was also quite overcast but brightish.

As i was reviewing the photos some looked a little dark, and i was wondering what settings woud have been best to get the best photos. I fiddled with the exposure, and the ISO as i was taking them but i wasnt sure what woudl have been best, I found a few times the water on the court was quite reflective with the water sitting on the court. Im including a pic as a bit of an example. Not the greatest one that i took but gives a good example

im still only learning, and i get confused with settings LOL

ISO: 200
Exposure: 1/320 sec
Aperture: 5.0
Focal Length: 160mm
Flash Used: No

If you want to make your shutter speed faster or make your aperture smaller (larger f/#) to get more in focus, then I'd suggest upping your ISO to 400 or even 800 depending on how your camera handles it.

It does look like you were getting a good exposure, it just looks to me like the focus is a bit off in the shot, so none of the people are in focus.

Cheers for that, I couldnt remember if it was up or down with the ISO that I had to go. But i was happy with the exposure, and im guessing the only way to get rid of the glare off the courts would be to use a polarizing filter?

Thanks for the comments though, this wasnt one of the better pics, but was the best for showing what the conditions were like.

If i could just ask the previous poster (sorry cant remember your username) what did you do to the photo? Great edit of it though, thanks, Feel free to edit the other 100 odd that i took

thanks heaps

Smoke and mirrors! I Cyber-hypnotised you! -To explain what I did to get contrast etc right is very complicated and I have the whole recipe saved as an action in photoshop-But I will give you 3 things that you can apply to each image in post processing to improve them:

1. Tidy up

1. Image> adjustments> Auto levels

2. Ctrl+J

3. Image> adjustments > Equalize

3. Blend mode-Soft light- (adjust opacity slider to suit)

4. Flatten/Save

2. Colour Boost

1. Ctrl+J

2. Image> Adjustments> Match Color

3. Luminance 119

4. Color intensity 126

5. Flatten/Save

3. Sharpen

1. Ctrl+J

2. Filter> Other> High pass 4

3. Soft light

4. Flatten/Save

Regards, Ken results of these recipies:
