Default Permission for Photos ?

I am not sure where this should be posted, so apologies to the moderators if this needs to be moved.

I am excited to start posting submissions to the weekly contests. I find myself bringing my camera with me everywhere, in case I pass something cool that speaks to me.

Anyway, regarding this weeks' topic - "Trucks". I passed a few interesting subjects on the way home from work. However, it would involve pulling into a parking lot, or loading dock area - and me taking pictures of someone else's truck.

My question is simply - are there any "rules of the road" or photographic courtesy involved with taking pictures of someone else's property ?

Use a longer lens.

Seriously though, if they are in public view, they can be photographed legally. As long as you are not on private property anyways.
