Default Overexposed look that's so popular

I see a lot of photographers trending lately toward the overexposed look in a lot of their pictures... particularly wedding shots.

I understand the concept of overexposing a shot in general... but is this something they're achieving on the shoot itself... or in post production? I'd like to know how to micmic it
Not all the time, of course, but occasionally.

For example...

Looks to me like all they are doing is metering for the ground.

Looks to me like bad exposures. But that's just my opinion.

I tend to shoot my pictures like that and really like that style. I just snap the pictures with a higher exposure and only PP I'd do is a little dodging and a bit of color pop.

i think it's done in PS, probably to give it a soft innocent purity, that's why you'll find baby pics or wedding pics shot in this manner, well that's my 2 cents

A lot of stock photographs are over exposed. I hate it; it drives me nuts.

BUT...

it's what sells. And overexposed shots well well. They're not SUPER over exposed. Just enough to make the image bright.

Hate to break it to you, but the "over exposed" shot isn't "new".

Ok, it's not really so much "current" as it's been around for a long time, so define 'current' as being anything in the past 15 years, and sure. It's "current".

The photographer that took my wedding photos has lately been leaning heavily towards overexposing his shots. Particularly wedding dresses. I hate to say it, but I think it looks tacky. Those two examples you showed were fine. But what I've been seeing have been no detail in the dress, and sometimes the face of the bride. One or two shots are fine. But not the entire batch. Not good at all.
