I have to agree with you Manwez, I'm all for artistic shots, but a whole album of high-key shots would drive me insane.
That said, there's a wedding photog up your way, Jonas Peterson, who pulls it off extremely well. These trends come and go, there's even been a resurgence in discussions about "fusion photography" on wedding photog sites that's been driven by the inclusion of HD video in the new dSLRs.

High key is a good look for a wedding, it summery, light and romantic. However its very difficult to get this look and not loose all the details in the dress. That is wedding photography 101, don't blow out the dress. The bride didn't spend $2000 on a dress and $2000 on a photographer so she could see a white blob.

My wife knows a few wedding photographers, and from what I come to gather they just dont know how to use there camera... HAHA just kidding. Some people do it post production and some take the shot that way. I say personally shoot it right and then play with it in post production (shoot RAW makes it easier and you don't get as much clipping when you over edit.) Or I take a couple shots overexposed and witha correct exposed and see what I like from there.
