looks like you were shooting into the sun, at least somewhat. That could be it.
Also, you're at 230mm; that's a long range. Over distance, depending on the weather conditions, you're much more likely to get hazy shots. A curves adjustment should help it out nicely.

A bit under exposed. The dark areas have lost out on the details.. In the first image, the underside of the boat had more details.. now it is almost black.
PS: I am unable to access flickr. So I dont know how the image would look at a larger size. |

What do you think about this. I pushed up the exposure just a bit, them enhanced the blacks. I improved the saturation of the midtones. I also modified the brightness and contrast. At the end I slighly modified the luminosity of the greens, yellows and reds.

It's certainly an improvement on my original but I think the greens are a bit too vibrant especially in the mid ground areas - I think it is a matter of whether I want a great looking image or a good interpretation of what I could actually see. Mainly I'm just pleased it wasn't a problem with my lens or camera! |
