Default Hazy shot

Could anyone tell me what would have caused the hazy effect on this shot - is it just the light? I had a polarising filter on the lens as well

looks like you were shooting into the sun, at least somewhat. That could be it.

Also, you're at 230mm; that's a long range. Over distance, depending on the weather conditions, you're much more likely to get hazy shots. A curves adjustment should help it out nicely.

Thank you crazzy - whilst not right into the sun certainly in the general direction of

Took your tip using curves tool - might have overdone it a bit - not too good at judging these things yet!

A bit under exposed. The dark areas have lost out on the details.. In the first image, the underside of the boat had more details.. now it is almost black.

PS: I am unable to access flickr. So I dont know how the image would look at a larger size.

Sheldon,

What do you think about this. I pushed up the exposure just a bit, them enhanced the blacks. I improved the saturation of the midtones. I also modified the brightness and contrast. At the end I slighly modified the luminosity of the greens, yellows and reds.

Flavio,

It's certainly an improvement on my original but I think the greens are a bit too vibrant especially in the mid ground areas - I think it is a matter of whether I want a great looking image or a good interpretation of what I could actually see.

Mainly I'm just pleased it wasn't a problem with my lens or camera!
