Okay, I'm fairly new to DSLR photography, so bear with me. I'm using the Nikon D60, I've been mostly using auto setting... Is this bad? Is Using Auto settings frowned apon in the world of photography? Also, I need general Manual Setting tips. Thanks!

WHatever gets the shot, works.
Now, whether it's the shot you wanted, that's another issue. The PSAM settings allow you greater control over the pure Auto and thus allow you to get a specific or desired effect in an image.

If you are just out to have fun and enjoy taking pictures and the auto settings are working for you, stick with them. Some time in the future, if you want more control over what you are shooting then look into some of the info right here on DPS. It is an excellent place to start. Hope that answers your questions.
