Here's my 1 that I'm sharing. Moving the camera around is so much more fun that just setting a long exposure.

Glow sticks glow just as much as fireworks. ^^ All taken with my little canon SD750 while lying on my back. I believe my ISO setting was either 800 or 400...I lowered the exposure a tad on the camera...however, the rest of the settings were auto since it is just a point and shoot camera. but some cool photos nonetheless ^^

I love my Canon Rebel XSi and use it when I can, but my little Canon SD750 will forever be my first baby whom I will never neglect. http://www.flickr.com/photos/animekiti4christ/ Last edited by animekiti4christ; 07-11-2009 at 07:14 AM. |

Here are some fireworks shots I took tonight. I live in Waikiki and there is a 5 minute display every Friday in front of the Hilton. I plan on going every week for a while and experimenting with different settings and locations.
Nikon D80, tripod, remote trigger, iso 200, f/16 - various shutter speeds and focal lengths. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Folks, I would just like to thank you all for the shared wisdom. Yesterday I shot my first fireworks since I own a DSLR and followed everything posted here and in the guide Darren composed. Results - stunningly good, after you set the right settings, use the right equipment and apply what you read, it's all a piece of cake. Almost all photos were technically good, it was a matter of just choosing the best composure.
Thank you for helping me control every factor possible to get these photos right. I'll post some as soon as I get them polished up. Rasho |

Here's a few:
![]() ![]() ![]() I found the bulb mode+remote switch combo the best, better than pre-setting the exposure, this way you simply press when you see the rocket rising and hold until it shines. I was in a bad location, couldn't chose, so the background is not so nice, but I still love the shots. Also, I cannot emphasize how important was the purchase of new, bulkier and heavier, but also much more stable tripod. I was on a top of a building, pretty windy, I know my old tripod would wobble under the weight in such winds. |
