I realize my shot is quite dark but we were parked in a dirt field. Most importantly though, I had a great time with my family watching the fireworks from afar.

Max aperture- 4.7

Alright, here are my best pictures I took last night. I'm not too happy with them, but I think they turned out alright. I had to stop taking them after one of our motor tubes knocked over and blew up by me, and almost took out my camera. So I decided to stop taking pictures, cause I didnt want that to happen again and take out my camera. But yeah, it was nice to be able to coordinate when they were going to be launched because it was done infront of my house. But anyways, let me know what you think.

Default First Attempt Shooting Fireworks

Hi, I'm a first time poster. These were shot on Clear Lake in California.
This was my first attempt at photographing fireworks. Thanks to all the great advice on these forums the pictures came out ok. I surprised myself.

Mike

Your pictures turned out awsome. There is only one suggestion that I would recrommend, watch your horizon. Try to keep your camerah inline with it, otherwise the pictures sometimes become distracting.

I love that second one actually It's got great colour and it's almost like glitter in the sky. Hope you had fun (before you nearly lost the camera )

Those are really neat! It must have been a bit windy to get those cool horizontal streaks? I like the idea of using a lenscap between fireworks to get more images per picture, that would be an interesting experiment. Sadly we only get a show once a year, not much opportunity to experiment, and it only lasts ten mins.

Default using zoom

A cool trick my dad taught me was to manually zoom in or out while the fireworks were exploding. This creates an abstract and artistic photo. Below are a couple of examples from this years Canada Day display.
