How do you achieve this kind of shot? The sort of stuff you would see in a catalogue or gap advert.
http://modelmayhm-8.vo.llnwd.net/d1/...ff0bbafcee.jpg Nice exposure on the skin and sort of washed out background with being too blown out. Any help much appreciated! DHG |

Spot meter for your model, and make sure the background is sufficiently lit.

You also may want to use an off camera flash to fill in some shadows.

Conversely: Shoot in Manual and purposefully overexpose.

If you are serious about going in that direction, you'll want to get light difusers and reflectors. I have no doubt these were used in the samples (especially the top one) you showed us.

Thanks for the replies.
I have an off camera flash, reflector and diffuser to light the person properly (or at least make a decent attempt of it). Is it just a case of over exposing the background a little to get the final effect? So shooting into the sun and using fill flash/reflectors should do it? yes, that should do it.
