Advanced Features (CDHK tools)

I recently installed CDHK onto my PowerShot (SD1100) to tinker with its high-tech settings and after looking tinkering for a bit the fact occurred to me that I have no idea how to actually use a lot of the features that it enables. Are there some basic (easy to read) tutorials on how to maximize using tools like histograms and zebra parameters in the grand scheme of (digital) photography? I can figure out how to enable the tools on my camera, but once they are there I'm pretty lost as to what they actually do and how to maximize the various features.
