I've started shooting about 50% of my photos in manual mode. I have also started to use spot metering more since it seems to go hand in hand with manual.
How often do you guys use spot metering and in what scenarios? Any tips on using spot metering for better photos?

i use it as much as any of the others. 33.3333333........................................ ...........% of the time
SPOT + exposure lock when in apertutr priority mode is quite a little gem in harsh lighting situations. (either low or bright)

I actually just re-assigned my FUNC button on my camera to switch to spot metering. Helps GREATLY with portraits.

With certain cameras there's the option to adjust how big the "spot" is. I know on my D80 there are 6mm, 8mm and 10mm options. This jsut determines how big the area of the image the metering system uses.
