First I would like to say hello to everyone. I just signed up and this is my 1st question.
I am going to a Cubs game this weekend and want to get some really good pictures. I have a Nikon D60 camera and 2 lenses. One is the 18-55mm lens that came with the camera and the other is a 55-200 lens that I bought separately. Both are auto focus lenses. What would be the best settings to use to get the best quality pictures. Im going to be in Section 211 row 5. Im not really sure how far that is from the field. From the picture I have seen it doesnt seem real far away. The weather is supposed to be cloudy and maybe some showers with a temperature around 60. Heres a pic of the section Ill be in. Yes I know its tiny and pretty useless. ![]() Thanks ahead of time. |

I'd check to see if you can find an MTF chart for those lenses. If so, it should tell you which aperture is the sharpest: from there you can get some amazing shots.
If its cloudy, it could work both for and against you. the clouds diffuse the light, but also give you less light to work with.

Heres what I have gotten for advice so far; Make sure you have it set to multishot, so you can just hold down the shutter release and get a series of shots. Set your AF-area mode to Dynamic Area, that way it will refocus on the subject as it moves through your frame. Your kit lens probably has a 4.5/5.6 F-stop max but that shouldn't be an issue during daytime shooting. Switch to manual, use a fast shutter speed (250 or higher) and keep your F-stop wide open. |

I would advise against keeping the aperture wide open if you can. If you need the light, do it, but otherwise, try stopping down to f/8.
