Question how to shoot food photography?

How do I make a food look really delicious in a photo? That just by looking at the picture one's mouth waters and he would sure like to eat it. Especially breads, how do you make them steamy as if the photo was taken right after the bread was taken out of the oven?

Learn to make bread. Make your photo right after the bread is taken out of the oven. Seriously though, shooting freshly prepared food is obviously the best way to go.

For the broader side of your question texture is very important in making foods look delicious. Here's one discussion/tutorial on food photography that popped into my head when I read your post.

In a word: quickly.

Food becomes less-than-optimal for pictures within about 2 minutes. You have to have the whole thing setup and ready to shoot so that as soon as it's plated, it's shot.

Food photography, IMO, is like any other photography...all about the lighting and composition.

I personally use the hood light on the oven quite a bit, killing all other lights in the room. This works well for breads and any other foods that benefit from a yellow/gold toned light. This may or may not work for your taste, but I like it as it give a nice warm glow with dramatic shadows.

Best of all, it's free (well, except for the electricity I guess).

Apart from the half-eaten sandwich (never shoot eaten food!), they're not bad. a bit dark ebcause of your lighting, but still quite nice. A good start, thats for sure.

its well known facty that wet/shiny food is more appetizing..
so if it's fruit.. wash it or spray some water over it.

lots of soft light, and be sure its non directional..check out a cookbook to see what i'm talking about.
so soft window + reflector = perfect.
