Default Taking Pictures of Rain/Snow

It has been raining for a few days here in southern California now, and we've been getting lots of snow in our local mountains as well. Does anybody have any suggestions for shooting in either environment, like what camera settings to use? I intend to take pictures in the daytime as well as at night.

Thanks,
Chris

Never mind We've gone and come back already. Actually, it really wasn't too difficult shooting in the snow -- just had to remember to meter off the subjects instead of the snow, otherwise the subjects would've come out underexposed. I normally shoot in Manual Mode, but there were a few times when I wasn't sure about something and decided to set my camera to Program Mode. I also let the camera adjust the white balance which I normally adjust manually as well using the Kelvin temperatures. There were a few instances in which my subjects were backlit by the sun (when it did manage to peek through), so I simply used a fill flash and managed to retain the detail and colors.
