Default Blurry Images

Hi There!

I've been shooting with a Nikon D5000 with a Tamron 18-270mm. Within the past 6 months I have been noticing my pictures soft on some faces and on others in focus. I shoot in Program mode and was thinking about switching to Aperture Priority. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Can anyone help me?

Thanks!
Kristie

There's no way to know without a sample. It could be camera movement, subject movement, missed focus due to choosing the wrong focus point, or (least likely) an equipment problem.

Doug is correct. There is no easy answer without seeing a sample. The suggested issues he posted are very good starting spots to look at. The lens and camera are fully capable of producing sharp images. Are you using a tripod? A shutter speed fast enough to cancel out subject movement and camera shake? A general rule is the inverse of your focal length would be the slowest shutter speed to use, but that can be adjusted by other factors involved.

Thanks guys! I tried to upload a photo yesterday and it wouldn't take. I'll try and upload one this evening when I get home from work.

Hi Kristie,
I think your question is answered in your other post about this issue.

The problem is very likely Depth of Field.
And example photo (best way is to upload to flickr and then embed it here) would really help us.. but I'm almost 100% sure it's a depth of field issue.
