Default How to test Nikon 50mm Lens

Dear all experts,

I am going to buy a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens very soon. May I know how to test the lens on the spot ? Anyone? I am going to the shop now, will reach by 1 hour..from now.

I know that lens is not the best, but cheapest enough to get fast lens for portrait. 35mm is just too short

Ty.

Actually, I'm also considering purchasing the same lens. I'm in need of a fast prime lens. So, any comments would be appreciated by me, also.

New or Used, AF-D or AF-S ?

If used, check that all things rotate smoothely, make sure that there's no oil on the aperture blades. Checking sharpness is going to require image peeping with controlled shots... so on the spot, all you can do is make sure that it operates well, and looks ok (avoid mold / cloudy lenses) spots or bubbles in the lens are likely to be there, even on new gear, so one or two is ok, but excessive is a problem.

Dear ravncat,

Brand new AFS 50mm f/1.8 USD 228
Too late .. i bought it.. new one. ... nice and cheap ..much much much much much much much better than my "kid" lens

Very very very fast autofocus, very very very sharp, very very well exposed images.. compared to my overpriced VR "Kid" lens 18-55mm

Next purchase ==> Nikon 70-200 VR II (may be after i earn some money from photography first,, ...dream first)

Ty anyway.

The lens shouldnt give you better exposure.

And it's "kit" not "kid" lens. A "kid" is either slang for a child, or is a baby goat,
