What type of camera are you using?

If it is a digital interchangeable lens camera it may be a hair on the sensor.

Is this an SLR? If you only see it when you point the camera up I would think that is is a hair that is trapped on one end and laying flat in the camera. When you tip up it falls into the field of view.

Do you see it when you look through the viewfinder? If not, then it is likely between the mirror and the sensor. That will at least narrow down your search. A scratch on the lens will generally appear as a ghosting or flare - an out of focus area - rather than a dark shadow.

i am using a canon 7d, my lens is a 10-22 wide. and it cant be seen through the viewfinder, only on the end image result. and i cant see it when pointing down, but i thought it was just because of the grass being textured and it not being defined.
if it was in my camera body why doesnt the same thing happen with my other lenses?
thanks for your prompt help. i will go looking for a hair!!!

returning back to tell you the results... cant see a thing!!
i used my blower and had a very good look.. what do i do now??

It's hair or a piece of lint on the sensor.

I agree with a a hair on the sensor. Did you go to the "sensor cleaning" option in your menu. You are probably looking at it with your mirror down. Just guessing...

Can I
a) Open the shutter window using a screwdriver, then
b) hold the window using 2 clamps; then finally
c) blow the hair off using my mouth

;D

(Please don't follow the steps as I am asking and not giving advice)..
