Came across this rusted old truck yesterday and got lots of different shots of it.
Now, my daughter's always telling me I'm not artistic enough so I thought I'd try a little experimentation and get a bit more 'artsy-fartsey'. This is just my 'normal' PP and pretty much how it appeared to the eye ![]() Camera: PENTAX K-5 ISO: 80 Exposure: 1/100 sec Aperture: 8.0 Focal Length: 26mm My daughter would love these next two treatments (but I don't) ... My normal PP then saturation pumped up ![]() My normal PP then contrast pumped up ![]() I rather like this next treatment as the photo looks 'aged' as much as the truck. My normal PP then heavily desaturated ![]() I realize that the current treatment seems to be to go HDR for these types of shots and I USED to agree, but I'm completely over HDR now and don't want to go down that road. So, even though I may not like it personally, apart from HDR what is considered the 'normal' PP treatment for these types of shots? i.e. how should I proceed with the rest of the shots? TIA PS: Love the fact that after sitting there rusting away for so many years there's only one flat tyre!

I think "artsy" is not so much the post work used...It's more about the original shot taken.
Here's a shot I took of an old truck in a situation with a lot of distractions.... ![]() It's "artsy" because it has a "unique" perspective, get's interesting details, and you still know what it is without any of the distractions. In your shot it's a pic of an old truck in a "scene". The scene is detracting from the truck...most of the post work doesn't change that.
