I recently got Canon L lens 28-80mm F2.8-4. Before i used simple cheap Lenses and even now all images are not sharp. They are not blurry but not sharp: L lens did not add anything to sharpness. Cam settings and focusing are correct to have sharp details.
Any idea ? |

fast Shutter as described in theory and all F stops where tested, even with good light.
Shutter is at least 125 and higher were tested. I just do not know what do i need to see to call image sharp ??? Lens i got i was told sharp. And i have XSI Camera - can this be my problem ? can any one post straight Out Of Camera example ? Last edited by Partsrept; 10-03-2011 at 04:07 AM. |

How to Take Sharp Digital Images
Advanced Tips for Tack Sharp Images A lot of different thing affect sharpness, not just shutter speed Stopping down. Post-Processing Good handholding technique. Post an example. A lens alone does not necessarily make for sharpness. In addition, the 28-80 f/2.8-4L should be a good lens, but it's discontinued, and has been superseded by the EF 24-70 f/2.8. The 28-80L was first introduced in 1989. Given the possible age of the lens, chances are that someone could have abused the copy you have. Even an L can have a misaligned element if it's been dropped.

In the first image your SS was too slow for the focal length if handheld without VERY good technique.
In the second issue I do not see an issue with sharpness... If you are beyond 100% magnification while viewing every image will show issues. It is not terribly uncommon for older "film lenses" to have more issues when mounted on a digital body (front/back focus, CA, etc), especially a "consumer" level body.
