Default Polarizing filter question

I use a Canon. I have UV filters and polarizing filters that attach directly to the lenses. The lens hood attaches to the lens and back beyond the filters making it such that the hoood encases the filters and makes them unreachable. How am I supposed to rotate the polarizing filter with such a set up?

It was suggested I take off the hood, adjust the polarizing filter, and then very carefully put the hood back on. Seems awfully cumbersome. Is the solution a hood that attaches to the filter and not the lens? Or is there another solution? I can't see how Canon could have designed such a blunder.

You have two options: dont use a hood, or find a hood (like the stock pentax ones) that has a cutout near the front of the lens (at the back of the hood) that allows you to keep the hood on but also adjust the filter.

Not sure if you can find any third party products, or if actual pentax hoods will fit other brand lenses, but...most pentax hoods have a removable filter window so you can still access the filter when the hood is on the lens. You may be able to order one of these and use it.

*note: that is the underside of the hood, not the top

One time I cut a hole in the lens hood. Now days I just stick my finger into the lens hood from the front and rotate it with my fingernail
