I just purchased a 70-200 telephoto for my d90. I have been placing the camera down on its LCD with the lens straight up in the air. Is this the best method? For longer storage, I take the lens off. I am just curious if anyone knows the best way to put the camera down in between shots.

Doesnt really matter: just dont stress the mount. Lying it on it's side is usually the best (handgrip up). If you have a grip on the bottom, thats likely the best way: if you dont, just lay it normal, with the bottom of the camera on the bottom.
