Willing to try this....so would you just shoot most everything in P mode then? (I guess other than when I'm using "sport"?)

Here's what the little icons on my screen say in that mode....tell me if I need to change any of them: f3.5, 1/30, 0.0, 0.0, AF, ISO auto. Also, under the "capture" function of this mode, it states: white balance auto, exposure metering center-weight, af zone center-zone

If using the P mode, what's a good standard ISO setting to stay in---200? auto? Obviously, it's not 100.

On another note, seems like the auto picture-taking mode of this camera is useless...don't really understand what it's even on the camera for.

I'm grateful for any help anyone can give me. I guess I sound so stupid to some of you pros!

If you are just looking for a good point and shoot camera the panasonic lumix FZ100 is great. Image stabilization on it is awesome, great zoom, auto does very nice but also has the manual settings if at some time you would like to learn them.
