I'm gonna be shooting a local concert series this summer and I'm looking for advice, tips, and/or links. The equipment I've got to work with is a Canon 450D, 18-55IS, 60mm Macro, 75-300, and 3 speedlights. I went to the first show Fri for a practice run just to get an idea of what to expect. I shot without flash because I wasa bit gun shy about poppin flash at the band, and I didn't shoot the crowd at all for the same reason. Here's a link for what I got: Rivermist Concert Series - a set on Flickr Any advice you can give on dealing with the light or lack thereof, how to use flash in these situations, flash etiquette, good compositional ideas, etc. Or if you can point me to any good sources on the subject elsewhere would be greatly appreciated.

i have only done a few gigs myself but im trying to get more, here is the advice i can give you
1stly buy the cannon 50mm 1.8 you will need a fast lense and this is a good cheap one that will do the job perfectly 2nd'y don't use flash, most bands hate it and if you start doing it for bigger acts you won't be allowed iv just had a quick look through the set you posted and you did pretty well with the equipment you got, with a nifty 50 you could definatly do well best thing i can say is make sure your batteries are charged you have some spare memory cards you have a fash lense remember that there are other people who are there to see the gig as fans, don't spoil there experiance don't just shoot at head height, try getting close and low for some good effects most importantly, make sure you are shooting in raw, you will thank yourself for doing so when it comes to PP and remember to have fun
