Default Questions on Focus Lock & Exposure Lock (Manual Mode)

1. How is focus lock used?

2. How do I lock the exposure on Manual Mode.

I own a Canon Rebel XS. I've recently been hearing about focus lock and exposure lock. I would really like to know how to use both of these technicques.

Thank you for taking the time.

(1) For focus lock see page 46 of the English instruction manual.

(2) In manual exposure mode you have total control over the exposure.
To lock it onto a setting do not make any more adjustments.

OK, thanks. But I notice that when I move the camera around (after I've selected an exposure in M mode), the light meter jumps all over the place. How do I get it to lock in place without moving?

The meter indication may move as you are now looking at a different scene when you move the camera.

The camera settings will not change.

If you want them to change to centre the "needle" you will have to do that yourself.
