plexiglass v. glass

I want to set up some reflection shots - is plexiglass as good as glass for this?

If so, does it matter how thick the plexiglass is? I can get it from 1/8 inch to an inch or so ...

What is the subject? If you are using a person, I would not use glass (for obvious reasons) and 1/8th plexi would probably not lie flat with the weight and may break.

As long as it's clean, scratch-free and properly cared for, yeah.

Most folks I know use plexi. I'm picking up a sheet myself this week for a one-year-old's session this weekend.

If you're just doing small items, a black reflective tile works well too. That's what I use when I'm doing small reflection shots (it's cheap and easy to find too!)

For the record, plexi is better than glass (unless you need to see through it for some reason). Glass has 2 reflective surfaces, the top and the bottom, giving you a double reflection. Plexiglass will give you only 1 reflection

Check out the handle in this shot, double reflection because I used a mirror (glass)

If it's on the floor you're fine.

The only caveat is that plexi scratches really easily, so you have to take care of it.
