Lens hood indoors?

Should you ALWAYS use lens hoods, indoors and out?

I keep mine on at all times, simply for lens protection. I've had my camera accidentally bang up against a wall - the hood took the brunt of it rather than the lens itself. Pretty much the only time I take it off is if I'm shooting outdoors and want to intentionally capture lens flare.

Always. As Susan says to help protect the lens.
Also it helps reduce flare.

If you're using on-board flash, make sure you don't end up casting a shadow with the hood. This isn't a problem in all cases, but you might see this if you're shooting at wide angles.

Also, I use a lot of flash indoors and they're almost never on the camera, so it helps keep those pesky flares out.
