Default Image size for projected slideshow

I'm preparing some photographs for a slide show that will be projected. A few need some cropping - some, ideally, quite a bit. I'm wondering how small (pixel x pixel) is too small. The room is a medium sized meeting room and the set up doesn't need to be from the far back. (I know this isn't real clear but I think the answer is not bound in stone either.)

I'm doing this in LR3, raw files that, sooc are 4288 x 2848, the cropped sizes are 1064 x 1602, 1536 x 1018, 1181 x 784, down to 727 x 483.

I figure the 483 is probably too small but how about the 727, 784?

Any help appreciated....

Depends on the projector and the size of the images on the wall, as well as how far away the patrons will be

Yes, I understand that - that's why I said I knew it wasn't clear. But I'll take a wild guess - people anywhere from 5-20 feet away. Don't know about the projector at all. Maybe images 2-3 feet?

Sorry, I'm just way too new at this and am looking for vague guidelines. Probably will have to just say, "oops, well, that's an otter eating a fish and looking straight at the camera" if it doesn't work....

Knowing the projector's display resolution is key.
