Default using a gray card

I am using a nikon d5000 and am wondering how you would use a gray card with the camera...

Set your white balance to PRE
Press the WB button again and PRE will start flashing
While PRE is flashing...fill the frame and
Focus, and expose on the grey card
Shoot the shot of the grey card
If done correctly, Good should flash

Now I'm working out of memory on this, but pretty sure that's the correct procedure (at least on my D300)

Does that answer your question?

...also had some of those Duh moments myself, Scott. I find it'll work well as long as the overall lighting conditions remain constant. Hardly ever the case while shooting outdoors though..better off to shoot in RAW and correct in post.
