Question How to capture the moons aura?

Lets begin with the camera I use. It is a super zoom point & shoot. Kodak Eayshare Z981 (26X Optical Zoom). I am a newby. I have posted some shots here at DPS. One set of the moon. I can get a detailed image of the moon. What I am having trouble is getting the moon the way it is when I look up. It is glowing, but I can still see the detail. I cannot capture that look. What I get is a either a pic full of detail or a washed out circle. How do I get the natural look. Or would I need to do 3 exposures & combine in an HDR image? Just looking for some pointers. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I'd start by trying an HDR image. I tried something on this order once where there were wispy clouds framing the moon, and I wasn't quite able to capture the look I wanted, but it was a cold winter night, and I wasn't quite dressed to stand outside fiddling with the camera. ;-)
