My canon 40d has problems with straight lines. I swear on my mother's life that when I look through the view finder my lines are straight! But they come out like this:
Hope you can see the attachment. My 550d is fine! I don't have any problems. My husband thinks there is something wrong with the camera and perhaps a service by Canon is in order. What do you think?? Just in case you can't see it here is the photo from flickr!

Wait, you're saying the image in the viewfinder is level, but photos come out crooked?
COOL!

..this is just an unproven statement on my part that may have no relevance, but could it be that while looking through the viewfinder our brain corrects the image to appear as we think it should look, but of course, the camera sees it as it actually is??? (but then again, you have no problem with your other camera)

I know! It's weird! It's not funny. I need some sort of spirit level or something but only for this camera.
Got any suggestions Osmosis?! Looks like I'm answering my own ruddy question by the spirit level idea.

I sometimes suffer from a similar problem with my images just slightly lower on the right side. I often have to make a conscious effort to raise my right arm a little to try to correct it.

Umm, is the sensor still on straight? Or your viewfinder? Other than that, sounds like a trip to the Canon gods.

Have you tried shooting from a flat surface and checking the viewfinder? If you have live view you should compare on a tripod
I can't take straight shots from a train, even though I use gridlines and swear the image is right |
