Default Photographing a painting

I was contacted by a friend asking me if I could photograph a painting for the artist's portfolio. "Sure!"
But seeing that I have never attempted such a thing, how would all of you suggest I take the picture? Lighting? set-up?
I have 3 soft boxes and a flash w/ softbox. I imagine the 50mm lens would work fine.

And then the other question is, How much should I charge?

You will essentially be doing copy work so you want nice flat lighting. You also want your camera to be in a position where it is outside the family of angles of the light sources to avoid reflections and glare...luckily you can achieve this by using your soft boxes and having one on each side of the artwork at a 45 degree angle. your camera will be in the center between the lights.

Sorry no help on the how much to charge question.

Thanks for the info. I will have to do some test shots, but it sounds easy enough.
