Default Backdrops.

Hi there, I'm just starting out to play around with taking portraits and so far I was using a blanket for a backdrop when photographing my daughter...

What I want to know, is what other things I could use as a backdrop, to get different backrounds

Trees, brick wall, lake, clouds, wall in the house, corregated steel wall, barn, car, park, etc. etc..

Really, eviromental portraits will be the most "real" and interesting. Painted scenes are the most tackey and 1980's.... , different blankets or curtains or shower curtains will work, but I would take a look at what you can find naturally and place your subject in a natural surrounding.

I use seamless paper. Inexpensive, loads of colors, and you can always add a texture to make it more interesting in post processing.

I am working on a tight budget right now thanks to the IRS But I really love those $5 fleece blankets that you can find in any color or pattern at pretty much any retail store. They are not big enough to use as a backdrop for a big person unless it is a headshot, but for a little person, they are perfect.

Here you go. I get the 53" size.

savage seamless paper

And here you can view all the colors and request a color chip chart. The colors look slightly different online than they actually do, so it's a good idea to order one of these.
