Washed out look
I have been attracted different types of photography styles and looks. One of which is the (I will have to call it) "washed out look". Not sure what the true name is. I see this style in family portraits. It looks as almost there is an overwhelming amount of warm light, almost gold in color.
some examples I have seen:
So my question is: Is this style done in-camera or is PP (I am sure it is a little of both)? If it is done in-camera what lens and setting is used? If done in PP, what filters or layers are used?
I have a photo shoot and she like this style of portraits. I would like to do my best to achieve it. Thanks!

start out with a well composed, properly exposed image - then the coloration modifications are done in post...lightroom for example"They call me Bruce."

Do you know what layers, effects or (???) are used in the PP to achieve this?Canon 60D, Canon 40D, Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, Canon 85 f/1.8, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8, Sigma 50mm 1.4, Rokinon 8mm, Tamron 18-200. Nifty 50 jumped out of truck and broke

First it starts with lighting, then it comes down to the effect done in photo shop or an equivalent software. Now, actions can be expensive, but this is a site I use for great free actions. Perfect when starting out The CoffeeShop Blog
Some advice I am going to give you about actions. 90% of your focus should be on composition (how you take the photos) and 10% should be the affect you add. But the affects should only be used to enhance what you have in your photos first. Use them lightly.
If you have any more questions about what I am saying here feel free to ask me.
