Default Ocean Shore Photography - Gear Protection?

Hello,

Are there any special precautions I should take when on the ocean shore? All I can think of was when I was a kid, I borrowed my fathers video recorder on a vacation that lasted 3 weeks on the ocean shore.

I used the camera a lot, and about the 2nd week in, it was no longer able to record. My theory has been that the salt mist or whatever somehow corroded the head.

The camera I'm using is probably a lot more suited to such an environment: EOS 1-D Mark III with weathersealed lenses and mounts, in addition to front filter elements to top that off.

Regardless I'm curious about feedback on this concern.

Rain covers are gonna be a good idea, especially if you've got spray. Once you get the camera home, clean it off properly and thoroughly
