Default photoshoot in the snow- tips or tricks?

Hi everyone!
I'm getting together with a friend of mine next week to take some photos. We both have horses and we try to get together every so often to get some nice pictures of us with our horses (and the dogs usually get in there too). It is winter here and there is a lot of snow! Any pointers for winter photoshoots (other than staying warm)? We'll be using my friend's Canon Rebel, I'm not sure what model it is. Is it better to do this on a sunny day or won't it make a difference? Thanks for any help!

Sunny day is fine...but don't be in the sun find a shade area where there isn't any sun on you. Direct sun will make you squint and will also cast hard shadows. An overcast day may be much better. You can change the white balance on your camera so the colors come out correct. If there is a fair amount of snow in the frame you will want to add + exposure compensation. Your camera sees all that bright white and want to make it gray and it results in your subject being underexposed so you need to tell it to overexpose. You can spot meter on the face to get your settings or estimate the + comp and bracket a few frames.
