Default How to get a correct focus?

How to click a picture of a person in front of rocket launch? I need to get both on focus. When I tried this, I could only focus either on the person or on the rocket. How can i get both in focus??

You'll probably want to look here for posts on hyperfocal distance. This will let you get everything from a certain point back to infinity within appreciable focus.

By rocket, are we talking small model rockets? A sample image that you're having problems with, complete with EXIF will probably help people offer other suggestions.
