Default shooting landscapes and esp towards the sun

how do we shoot into the sunlight! One time it was cloudy and i was tryin to learn landscapes and RAW but there was this strong light coming from the direction i was shooting. I got blown out images. So i increased my shutter speed and increased my f stops as well. Even though the image wud b well exposed, the subjects wud b real dark. Since i shoot in raw , is there anyway i cud make it preety. i tried using lightroo but it was out of my league which frustratd me to shoot raw n seems like landscape is not my thing as well. Any techniques on gettin better shots.

You can handle this a couple of ways. One is through use of a graduated neutral density filter that goes in front of the lens and has a dark and light area. You can use it to darken up the sky, although it really works best if there aren't features that reach up into the skyline.

Otherwise, you, can look into exposure bracketing, where you take a series of shots at different exposures and merge them together to bring out the detail in the highlights and shadows.
