Hi All -- I'm new to all this but I'm greatly interested in getting better.
So these may be dumb questions, but bare with me please... I have a Fujifilm s700. 1. After I have already taken a picture, how do I know all the settings I used? Am I supposed to record them as I go? I get trigger happy and just start shooting without remembering when I altered aperture, shutter speed, etc. 2. And is the exposure meter supposed to have the hash mark in the middle to show it's the optimum exposure? The only way I'm getting it to the middle is with the slowest shutter speed. So surely something isn't correct. Thanks for taking the time to help. |

Usually, reviewing your photo in camera will provide the settings. You camera software will also show your settings when you download them to your computer. Just about any photo editing software will show you the settings the photo was taken at. Even the computer operating system can show your settings.
If you have to slow down your shutter speed to get to middle on your in camera meter, you can increase your ISO or open up your aperture, I'm not familiar with your camera so I don't know what type of control you have over it. Learning about Exposure – The Exposure Triangle, it will make more sense to you.

Here is a link to a PDF version of your manual ( I am assuming you don't have it anymore). It should be of some help. Sorry I do not know the finer details of your camera.
