Default controlling multiple cameras with wireless remote

hey guys, i've been in the biggest photography lull these days, but a little while ago i shot some fireworks. it was fun, and some of them turned out pretty good, for my standards. however, while shooting, i was a bit overwhelmed with worry that they would all turn out out-of-focus. so once i had the focus set, i was afraid to move my camera too much, which unfortunately means most the photos are from the exact same angle.

i've been thinking of adding a second body to my kit lately, and seeing the nikon D3100 in the new issue of Popular Photography (just showed up today!) i'm thinking i really need to go for it. it's in the right price range, as i can get just the body instead of the whole kit. which brings me to this.

can you control 2 cameras at the same time, via infrared remote? while shooting the 'works, i was thinking how cool it would be to attach a 2nd body to my tripod legs, with a gorillapod, and have both cameras take photos at the same time.

possible?

yep - ive set up cameras on seperate tripods on opposite sides of a seated person and fired them at the same time with one remote. It was a cheap as hell remote too (NZ$10 !)
