Default What Type of Lens to use (Wrestling Matches)

Was recently asked if I would come by and photograph some high school wrestling matches...I wrestled in high school and know that most matches are conducted in a Gym, with lights over top the wrestling mat...Does anyone have any suggestions as to what type of lens to use?...I figure I would need a fairly fast shutter speed, due to the quick action, but not sure what lens would be best suited for this type of event?....I've been eyeballing the 70-200 f2.8 from Canon and was thinking this lens would work well for this and other action events....Any advice would be nice!

The 85mm f1.8 works well too if you are going to be able to be down by the mats.

Another vote for the 70-200mm f/2.8.
If price is an issue then I would check out the Sigma version, I can say from experience that it is a great lens.
(Of course if money is not a concern then the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II USM is definitely the way to go )

Depending on the gym, 2.8 may not even be fast enough. It's easy to overstimate the light-gathering abilities of the 2.8 zooms.

Who is inviting you? Are you going to have access to the floor, or are you stuck being in the bleachers? Ideally, you would want to bring your own light, i.e., use a flash.
