I'm trying to learn all the bells and whistles on my Nikon D50 and every now and then I end up setting my camera so there is a delay between when I press the shutter button and when it actually takes the picture. I can't figure out what I'm doing to make it do this and how to make it NOT do this.
Right now I have my camera on Fully manual Raw burst (or continous) The WB is on Fluorescent AF Area Mode is on SINGLE These are the settings. ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us I think it has something to do with the "bulb" setting? But not sure how I got it on. If I change to Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority or any other setting it doesn't do this |

If it is not the bulb setting you may be activating the self timer.

Maybe also Shutter Delay setting (menu item D10 on my d90). It's meant to open the shutter about a second after raising the mirror to avoid vibrations from the mirror flipping up. Normally used on long exposure, tripod situations.

No, the D50 doesn't have an exposure delay mode like the D90. So maybe the self timer like Richard said, or are you sure you're finding focus? I notice that your focus point is set to the upper top. Does it still happen if you set it to somewhere else like the middle focus point?
