Default Don't know what I did to get the camera to do this..

I'm trying to learn all the bells and whistles on my Nikon D50 and every now and then I end up setting my camera so there is a delay between when I press the shutter button and when it actually takes the picture. I can't figure out what I'm doing to make it do this and how to make it NOT do this.
Right now I have my camera on
Fully manual
Raw
burst (or continous)
The WB is on Fluorescent
AF Area Mode is on SINGLE
These are the settings.

I think it has something to do with the "bulb" setting? But not sure how I got it on.
If I change to Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority or any other setting it doesn't do this

If you see the word 'bulb' while in manual just use the command wheel to change your shutter speed. That should work for you. Bulb isn't an option in any other exposure setting.

If it is not the bulb setting you may be activating the self timer.

Maybe also Shutter Delay setting (menu item D10 on my d90). It's meant to open the shutter about a second after raising the mirror to avoid vibrations from the mirror flipping up. Normally used on long exposure, tripod situations.

No, the D50 doesn't have an exposure delay mode like the D90. So maybe the self timer like Richard said, or are you sure you're finding focus? I notice that your focus point is set to the upper top. Does it still happen if you set it to somewhere else like the middle focus point?

Thanks guys. I figured it out. Turns out it was the red eye reduction setting. I didn't realise that because I'm used to the red eye setting flickering the flash several times and then taking the picture but I guess the D50 doesn't do that.
