Default blacks turning blue?

Yesterday, I took some photos with horses and all of their black noses are turning out blue? What causes this and how can I fix it?!?! Luckily the "client" is just my cousin so she's not to concerned because we can always shoot again but still confused as to why its happening!

Thanks!

Hmm, well I've read about lighting some, and I've never heard of this mentioned. My first and foremost guess would first be to check your nearby light sources and the White Balance on the camera.

It would be very helpful if you could post an example of the problem.

EDIT: Adobe products show, if enabled, clipped shadows with a blue overlay.

Default It could happen....

Maybe the horses are really Smurfs on a secret mission and their disguises couldn't fool the camera.

No, I don't think so because according to Wikipedia, Smurfs are "a fictional group of small blue creatures". I don't believe they can exist in the real world.

yeah, id check the White Balance setting on your camera. When I take photos with mine I tend to switch up the settings,...I go thru each White Balance setting and see which one looks the best. Sometimes even in daylight the shade setting gives me richer colors,...where as the daylight setting makes everything have a blue tint to it. Also,... I know my camera has a saturation setting,...if your does too, you might want to check it. If your shooting in Auto,...switch to Program/Manual,...and play with the settings. Thats the only things I can think of that might do that,....good luck

If the white balance is set too cold, so cold that even the shadows are notably blue, then the whole photo would look so blue that the blue nose would be the last thing you would be concerned of

The blue overlay isn't saved with the photo; it's just a tool for investigating the properties of the image.

If none of these images are stored online, click "New reply" on the bottom or top of this thread, and then click Manage attachments. There you'll find an option to upload pictures from your computer.

thanks for the quick info!

here's one of the photos, thinking it might have been caused by the sun catching the vasoline on his nose but still don't think it should have turned it blue...

any ideas on how to fix it that wont take forever?

thanks!!
