Battery in or out?

I was just wondering if it is better to take the battery out of the camera when not in use. I use my camera almost every days and ALWAYS have a battery in it ready to go but I was wondering if that is bad for the camera, or the battery? I have a Nikon D50

I wouldn't worry too much unless you're going to be leaving it for an extended amount of time. That's the advice I see on pretty much every other electronic item with a battery. So, unless you're going to be leaving it for quite some time I wouldn't really worry.

as long as you keep it in a dry place (plenty of silca gell packets) nothing is going to happen with the battery in that wouldn't happen with the battery out... the only thing that would cause you trouble is corrosion between the copper contacts. and that shouldn't happen if there is minimal moisture around, also if your worried about it, just have a look at the contacts from time to time.

Over a long time you can get 'trickle' where the charge slowly leaks out if you leave the battery in, but that would take weeks.

that is true also, how-ever, yes it would take a rather long time.
