Default What mistakes do you make most often?

While I know better, for me there are two key ones. When pushed I always try to shoot at a slower speed than I know I should with a long lens. The darn high res of the display on the camera makes me think I have succeeded only to get how and find lots of motion blur.

The other one is when in a rush I forget to optimize the image by rotating my CP filter.

What about you?

===================================
Well just after posting this I went out in the yard to take a picture of a cardinal (he flew away) but took this one of my dog at 300mm handheld at 1/60th of a second -- and it worked. And yes, those are really his eyes, no photoshopping no color editing.

mine is similar to yours...i'd want to work with a narrow DOF and open the lens up too much resulting in one sharp eyeball and one not so much. Oh and not paying enough attention to the histogram.

I usually shoot with auto ISO and that one time I change it to let's say 100 I next time forget to adjust it to fit the scene and what I'm trying to do and that pretty much messes everything up from time to time. :D

Are we limited to our top 5?

I have done all of the above....

To add to the list, not changing WB when the lighting changes (i.e. going from indoors to out) and getting blue images etc.

no!! add some over-the-top lens flare and it's art! - people pay good money for that sort of thing

Sometimes my biggest mistake is bringing the camera out in the first place.

WB, and ISO, I haven't fretted much over.... yet! But the issue of thinking I have a tack sharp image, and then when reviewing it on the big screen, it's as soft as marshmallows, seems to be a recurring issue with me too!

That's my most common...I don't look at the LCD enough so sometimes it's quite a while before I remember I had turned it on last time out.

The other would be not remembering to reset image quality to RAW...

It's one or the other...I use the two button reset to clean up my camera before use, when I remember...that fixes the first issue but also causes the second.
