Default Photos become fragmented. Please help!

Attached is an example of a photo that becomes wrecked by my computer or camera, I just don't know. Sometimes photos appear fragmented while on the card, viewing them on my camera. When I download to the computer, they show up OK. Other times, photos have been downloaded fine to the computer and later when I view them, they are fragmented. Does anyone have any idea what goes on here? I have changed cameras and cards. Well, it seems I can't even upload an example because the upload says the examples are not valid image files. (.jpg) The photos appear cut up, and where they are cut up the image gets shifted. Sometimes the coloring changes. I can try to email anyone a photo if you are interested. Sorry I can't show one here.

what abt taking a screenshot of the photo, saving it as a jpg & uploading it (attaching), if you can't upload the photo itself

Here is the attachment. it worked this time. Most of the time the pictures are split horizontally and then shifted. Sometimes the color is not altered, but sometimes it is, as in this one.

the case that I have seen similair to this one was a bad memory card.

When you say you are have changed cards & cameras, you mean both (At least) of your camera's / cards are giving the same problem?

IF so, check that your cards are virus free, check your Card reader/cable/port is working properly.

Another hint, the thumbnail in windows explorer (assuming you are using windows) or the preview (when you click that thumbnail) is different than the actual content of the file. So the thumbnails/preview might show fine, but it might show "cut" in PS (or other program) & vice versa.

First I bought new cards. It still happened. Got a new camera, still happened. It seems like i just never know when it will happen because the photos might upload fine, but when I go to look at them later, I'll find a few have changed. This photo that is here opened the same way in photoshop as in windows. Sometimes when I preview them on computer they are altered, but I put the card back into the camera and they are fine. The problem is when I delete them off my card, and then find later they have changed, I can't get the original back. I understand what you mean when the real file is different then the one I am looking at in windows, but it doesn't seem like I can get them to change back no matter where I preview them.

Something very odd going on here. As the problem has persisted over multiple cards and cameras, it must be down to the common factor, the computer. But the fact that the shots are sometimes corrupted on-camera makes this strange. Does it happen on a brand new (or even formatted) card before you have hooked it up to the computer? I'm thinking the computer might somehow be corrupting the card when you hook it up.

You don't say what software you are using. I'd bet it is PS elements and if you select and "purge" cache, you might solve the problem.
