Default wedding ceremony- noisy camera

Hello..I am fairly new to the world of photography. My camera is a Canon Rebel XSi which i've had for about 6 months. I never really noticed how loud my camera is until I had the opportunity to photograph a couple of weddings. I had the beep turned off but just the camera itself taking the pictures was noisy (to me). Obviously the sound was more noticeble during the ceremony. So my question is, is it just me that is paranoid about it? Do the guests actually notice? Do all bigger cameras make these sounds in general or is there something that I can do to lessen it? Thanks so much you guys for your help!

Different cameras make different noises.
More expensive cameras have more well built shutters etc... I would say my old Rebel sounded a LOT worse than my 5D.

Don't worry about it.

You have not heard loud until you shoot with an RB-67. Chur-Clunk in a quiet church, no other sound like it.

If you are really worried about the sound just wrap it up. Only other alternative is to buy a Leica M9. The 9 designates how many thousands of dollars it costs

Hehe, I wouldnt have the guts to use my Bronica MF kit for anything quiet: thing's a beast in both size and sounds.
