I am have canon powershot s5is, i am new to photography and was struggling to know gud settings for a potrait shot. can anyone help me

Reading your user manuals thoroughly, is a good start to learning what functions and settings your camera has. Check the Basic User Manual (page 13) for help on the various shooting modes, as well as the Special Scene modes (SCN).
